Smart home that doesn’t phone home · from £249

A privacy-first kit that runs on your network, not someone else’s. Local control, no cloud telemetry, no subscription required.

Most smart-home brands phone home. They quietly transmit when you wake, when you leave, which rooms you sit in, and how warm you keep the house. That data is bundled, sold to ad-tech networks, and increasingly used to model voter behaviour and political mood.

This setup works differently. Your hub sits on your shelf, not in someone else’s data centre. Sensors and bulbs talk to it over Zigbee — a local radio network, not Wi-Fi or the public internet. Same-room latency, no internet dependency, and you can scale it as far as you want. Nothing leaves the building unless you explicitly let it.

The £249 starter install

Tailored to your home — not a one-size-fits-all box.

Paying £249 secures your install. Before any hardware is ordered or fitted, we agree the specifics during a short brief — which rooms benefit most, what kit will get you the most use, and which automations to set up first.

A typical first install includes a Home Assistant hub, a Zigbee receiver, a small set of sensors and bulbs, plus on-site setup and a walkthrough so you can use it confidently. We’ll adjust the kit to fit what makes sense for your home.

Common questions

Do I need fast internet?

No. Your automations run locally on the hub. The internet is only used when you want it — for things like weather data, remote access, or pulling in a calendar.

What about devices I already own?

Depends on the protocol. Zigbee or Matter kit usually works alongside what we add. Cloud-only brands (Ring, most Alexa-tied bulbs) we’d recommend gradually swapping out — we’ll go through what you have during the brief.

What if Tech Liberation isn’t around in five years?

Your system keeps working. It runs open-source software on hardware you own. There’s no cloud subscription that can be switched off, and nothing tied to us specifically.

Can I take it with me if I move?

Yes. The hub and most sensors are portable. Bulbs and wall-fitted items come with you too if you swap them back on the way out.

How long does the install take?

Typically a half-day for a starter install. Bigger setups (CCTV, full-house lighting, multi-zone heating) take longer — we’ll tell you ahead of time so you can plan around it.
